At Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, rapper-actor-TV presenter Snoop Dogg says, 'I want to thank me'
(20 Nov 2018) SNOOP DOGG THANKS HIMSELF FOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS EARNING HIS HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME STAR
Snoop Dogg thanked himself for the achievements that earned him a star on Hollywood Boulevard.
Monday (19 NOVEMBER 2018), the rapper-turned-entrepreneur received the 2,651st star on the Walk of Fame.
"I want to thank me," Snoop Dogg said, with a grin. "I want to thank me for believing in me. I want to thank me for doing all this hard work. I want to thank me for having no days off. I want to thank me for never quitting. I want to thank me for always being a giver and trying to give more than I receive. I want to thank me for trying to do more right and wrong. I want to thank me for just being me at all times."
The unveiling attracted a blast of fans and big-name stars, including recording artists Pharrell and Warren G, TV presenter Jimmy Kimmel, and record producers Quincy Jones and Dr. Dre.
"Snoop was always there for me, ready to work and constantly motivating and pushing me and making me believe I could do it," Dre noted. "I mean, I could always hear his voice in my head, 'C'mon, Dr. Dre, 'cause, you could do this. You just gotta keep it gangsta,'" he continued, laughing.
The legendary Jones addressed Snoop Dogg directly from the podium: "Snoop, it was 25 years ago," Jones recalled. "but it seems only yesterday that you and your crew were hanging it out at my house. I wasn't even in town, but it's all right though, because you were family then and you are a family now and forever eternally. And how magnificent your journey has been from East St. Louis to Long Beach to Hollywood."
TV presenter Kimmel, whose show is recorded directly across from Snoop Dogg's star on Hollywood Boulevard commented, "I don't know how I follow the two greatest record producers of all time, but I'll give it a try. I'm Jimmy Kimmel. I'm Snoop's second-coolest white friend after Martha Stewart. Snoop is a multi-talent: He's a rapper, songwriter, record producer, TV host, actor, author, entrepreneur. He was the winner of the Nobel Prize in 2009 in Chemistry for his groundbreaking experiments combining gin with juice. And while Snoop, you are not -- I don't know if you know this? -- you are not the first dog to earn a star on the Walk of Fame. That honor belongs to Lassie and Rin Tin Tin. You will be the first to not immediately pee on it. So, thank you for that."
At ceremony's end, the 47-year-old Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr, give wife Shante Broad a long kiss.
