We speak to poet Malik Al Nasir about a series of events celebrating the life and work of his friend and mentor Gil Scott-Heron.

Throughout the programme Liverpool will pay tribute to Gil's poetry and music, but also his activism and role in the civil rights movement.
The headline event, "The Revolution Will Be Live – A tribute to Gil Scott-Heron", takes place at St. George’s Hall on Thursday 27th August and has been commissioned by Liverpool International Music Festival.

Malik and his partner Rich McGinnis have booked a stellar line-up featuring live performances by Talib Kweli, Aswad, The Christians, Craig Charles and Malik & The O.G's featuring Cleveland Watkins and Sophia Ben-Yousef.

They will be joined on the night by Nelson Mandela's grandson Ndaba Mandela and Gil's son Rumal Rackley.

Tickets for the event can be purchased here: http://www.ticketarena.co.uk/events/The-Revolution-w/
